One of three identical machines to drill and tap multiple steering wheels and horn assemblies. Machines include quick change tooling packages, automatic part transfer system, RTT Broken Tool Detection System and part presence "Cycle Start".
     
View of fixture and drill bushing plate. The tooling packages are self contained and include spindle plate assemblies, fixture, broken tool system, coolant system, electrical circuits, part eject and part presence "Cycle Start" systems. Fixture assembly has diamond and round locators, two cam locks, and three retained bolts. Fixture locator (lower left) is also the plumbing manifold and includes all pneumatic and coolant logic. Also shown is the electrical quick disconnect
     
View of automatic part transfer system. The boom lifts the part out of the fixture, rotates and deposits the part on a rack to dry.
View of RTT Tapping Module and RTT Broken Tool Detection System. Includes spindle plates with four cam locks for quick change over.
   
View of RTT Broken Tool Detection System. Taps are checked during part transfer. The system includes a slide to bring the electronic tool detectors into alignment with the taps.
